North Coast entrepreneur Isabeau du Preez honoured in Dubai

International award for Ballito business owner.

Founder and owner of Dolphin Coast Solar Solutions, Isabeau du Preez, flew the North Coast flag high in Dubai.

She became the first woman in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) industry to receive an award for leadership in the power and energy sector at the Global Women Leadership awards ceremony at Dubai’s Millennium Hotel on June 6.

The recognition has allowed Du Preez to explore business opportunities internationally and expand her network.

Her company provides sustainable solar solutions on the North Coast. And through panel discussions and her company evaluation, she emerged as the overall winner in her category.

“Receiving the award was a gratifying acknowledgment of my dedication and contributions to the power and energy sector.

“It also highlights the potential for women from diverse backgrounds to excel in traditionally male-dominated fields,” said Du Preez.

Her journey in the energy sector was different from most in the field. She did not take the traditional route of attending university to enter the STEM industry.

It started when, as a teacher, she decided to change careers and took advantage of available learning resources, interacting with industry professionals and seeking practical experience, all of which allowed her to carve out a successful career in STEM.

“My path exemplifies that with determination and the right opportunities, it is possible to achieve success in this dynamic and rewarding field,” she said.

The mother of three has become adept at fulfilling her maternal role and running a successful company.

“Balancing my roles as a parent and a leader in the office has been both challenging and rewarding. Dedication and teamwork can lead to success in both personal and professional life,” she said.

“I attribute my achievement to a relentless pursuit of innovation, a strong ethical foundation, and a collaborative leadership style that fosters meaningful partnerships across borders,” said Du Preez.
