“Influenced”: Ayanda Mngoma on juggling the world of content creation and acting

The Bhamshela actress has more than 200 000 followers across Instagram and TikTok.

Versatile 30-year-old Bhamshela actress Ayanda Mngoma is gaining popularity among the Gen Z and fashionista crowd through her creative social media content.

Popularly known as Mrs Petite by her followers, she posts snazzy fashion combinations across social media platforms to help women who battle to get their outfits for the day just right.

“The Mrs Petite name emerged once people began taking my content seriously. I want people to know that I’m a petite person, that I’m aware of it and that’s okay,” she said.

With more than 200 000 followers across Instagram and TikTok, Mngoma is regarded as a fairly heavy-weight influencer.

“Fashion is something I’ve always been into. I enjoy putting outfits together and creating stylish looks.

“I decided to try sharing videos about my style on TikTok and Instagram. People seem to love the videos and photos I share,” she said

As far as her acting career is concerned, the Durban University of Technology drama and production graduate has been cast in the popular TV soap opera Generations the Legacy, Showmax’s Pinky Pinky and Mzansi Wethu’s drama Ukuphandela Uthando.

“After I graduated I moved to Johannesburg to pursue an acting career and then Covid hit. I was forced to return home.

“Now I’m back in Jozi pursuing acting again. It’s a tough industry to get into,” said Mngoma.

“I want people to know that I am an actress who also happens to be a digital creator.”

The demands of acting and content creation require dedication and consistency, and Mngoma confidently manages the two.

“Content creation is like a second job. It requires consistency, quality and uniqueness. It’s not easy. I’m working on growing as a content creator and working with big brands,” she said.
