Thousands pray for the nation at Moses Mabhida Stadium

Almost 30 000 Christians converged to seek God for revival.

The sound of unity reverberated through the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday as thousands of people gathered to pray for South Africa.

The ‘Ignite The Fire’ gospel campaign – the largest prayer and worship gathering in KZN – was a resounding success as almost 30 000 believers converged to seek God for revival of the church and repentance for the nation.

Praise and worship teams ‘ignited fire’ with live performances.

As a massive South African flag was lifted amid the sound of the shofar and with crowds holding hands across the stadium, there was a humble cry for God to heal the land.

With the aim of seeking transformation by igniting peoples’ hearts to do God’s will, strategic prayer points focused on pertinent issues from family, marriage and gender-based violence to human trafficking, drugs and alcohol addiction, education, health, youth and children.

A moment of reflection.

The crowds further engaged in powerful intercession topics including the upholding of morals, integrity, good governance as well as reconciliation and unity.

Evangelists Thurston Meyer and Tamryn Klintworth delivered the word of the day and encouraged attendees to be change-makers in their communities.

Attendees were encouraged to become change-makers in their communities.

“The gathering, which was a first of its kind, united people of all races, cultures and denominations with one purpose – to seek God for the betterment of our nation and to empower believers to positively transform their communities and cities,” said AFM Tongaat’s Apostle Ronnie Naidoo.

Dynamic dance by local youth and praise and worship led by the ‘Ignite the Fire’ team as well as renowned gospel artists Dr Tumi and Ntokozo Mbambo lit up the stage, with the sounds of unity echoing throughout the stadium.
