Multiple injuries in N2 bus collision near Gingindlovu

The buses were reportedly carrying IFP supporters to a rally in Durban.

Eight people have been seriously injured including one who is in a critical condition, following a multiple bus accident on the N2 near Gingindlovu on Sunday morning.

IPSS Medical Rescue and IPSS Search and Rescue responded to the accident near bridge 14 on the N2 just after 9am after three buses reportedly collided leaving multiple entrapments and injuries.

The buses were reportedly carrying IFP political supporters to a rally in Durban.

A mass casualty bus was deployed to treat the remaining patients who have sustained minor injuries.

“Rural Metro Emergency Management Services worked to extricate the entrapped patients while medical services began the treatment,” said IPSS spokesperson Samantha Meyrick.

“IPSS Medical Rescue Advanced Life Support have transported eight of the most seriously injured patients including one critical patient to hospital.

“There are multiple services on scene with EMRS deploying a mass casualty bus to treat the remaining patients who have sustained minor injuries.”

The N2 southbound was severely affected but has since been cleared.
