Truck and taxi collision kills two near Isinembe

Seven more people were injured.

A head-on collision between a truck and taxi on the R614 caused two deaths and seven injuries just before 3pm this afternoon.

A man in his 30s and a woman in her 50s, both traveling in the taxi, were pronounced dead on scene after the accident near the Isinembe turnoff.

The cause of the accident is currently unknown and police will investigate further.

The driver of the truck was uninjured.

“Medics arrived to the chaos of a mass casualty scene, with seven occupants of the taxi sustaining injuries ranging from minor to critical,” said IPSS Medical Rescue spokesperson, Samantha Meyrick,

“The KwaDukuza Fire Department worked to free the trapped patients.”

Paramedics thanked Sharon Buckle, a passing nurse, who stopped to help at the scene and was the first person to provide care.
