KwaDukuza and iLembe municipalities unite in support of Madiba

KwaDukuza mayor Lindile Nhaca's day was headlined by the handover of a new home to a child-headed household in Shakaville.

KwaDukuza and iLembe municipalities’ leaders used Mandela Day on Monday to support some of their most needy constituents.

KDM mayor Lindile Nhaca helps plant a tree outside the new home that was donated to a child-headed family in Shakaville.

The house was constructed in conjunction with the Stanger and District Islamic Cultural Society and will give shelter to the seven children in the family.

Mayor Nhaca also visited the KwaDukuza Home Affairs, Enduduzweni Community Centre and Masibathande Home for children with disabilities, dropping off care packages at each.

iLembe mayor Thobani Shandu also handed over a home on Monday to the Ncalane family in Maphumulo, who tragically lost seven family members in a car accident at the Mvutshana Dam last year.

The home was donated by Umgeni Water.

He also visited the eBanomusa Health and Welfare Centre in Ndwedwe, handing over temporary housing in Mandeni later in the day.
