KwaDukuza promises new street lights

Project to target areas without infrastructure.

The KwaDukuza municipality has pledged to install more than 500 street lights in several communities before the end of June.
The project will cover areas that have been without infrastructure in the past.
KwaDukuza mayor Ricardo Mthembu made the announcement at a meeting on Tuesday, saying the project is part of celebrating two decades of democracy.
“As we celebrate the 20 year milestone in democracy, we want to ensure that communities across the length and breadth of KwaDukuza receive much needed infrastructure.”
A contractor has been appointed to install the street lights in all 27 wards, an initiative separate to the ongoing street light repairs in KwaDukuza.
Mthembu urged the community to use electricity responsibly, saying illegal connections and crime electricity are major concerns.
“Matters relating to crime always weigh on me every time I think about dark rural communities in KwaDukuza. That will now change.”
