Local artists team up with ‘Mash’ to compose song in honour of Chief Albert Luthuli

Music and art play a significant role in the museum's mission to preserve the legacy of the late Chief Albert Luthuli.

Four young artists together with renowned pianist and producer, Sibusiso ‘Mash’ Mashiloane teamed up to compose a song in honour of the legacy of Chief Albert Luthuli.

The composition forms part of the Luthuli Museum’s annual music business program and has been titled ‘Spirit of Luthuli’.

The single was composed by Sibongiseni Msweli ‘Jobe The Poet’, Lungisani Maxhakane, Zamalinda Mbatha and Nokuthula Sibiya, who hail from Groutville and KwaDukuza, along with pianist Mashiloane.

“Chief Luthuli is one of the highly esteemed leaders in the history of the struggle. To be part of a music project which honours him is one of the priceless moments of my entire music career.

Hats off to the museum and iSupport for such an initiative,” said Zamalinda Mbatha.

He said the young artists had a lot of promise and guiding them was his way to give back to the community.

“Their passion and enthusiasm fuels my energy,” said ‘Mash’.

Music and art play a significant role in the museum’s mission to preserve the legacy of the late Chief Albert Luthuli.

The annual music business program is run by Onexus Music Business Solutions and is an intensive ten week program touching on music industry topics including marketing, copyright and performing.
