A smooth ride

Road resurfacing progress.

Noticeable progress has been made on the road resurfacing project in Stanger Manor.
The KwaDukuza municipality started work on Daffodil and Geranium Streets earlier this year, ripping up the old road surface and re-tarring the two busy streets (KDM makes progress on road repairs, Courier, October 9).
Persistent heavy rain over the past three months put a dampener on the project however. Residents have had to endure driving on muddy gravel.
The project has affected local businesses in the Stanger Manor central business district where parking has been restricted.
Ward councillor Madhun Sing said that despite the weather, the project is progressing well.
“The weather caused us to lose 28 days in the project time frame but a large portion of both streets has now been completed. With a little more patience the project is expected to be completed within the contract period, by January 17.”
Sing thanked residents for their patience and co-operation.
Work is also continuing on Hill Crescent, with one lane closed to traffic and the other being used for traffic both ways.
