Thousands more RDP houses

Good news for rural Mandeni.

Mandeni mayor Siphesihle Zulu announced last weekend that more houses will be built –  particularly for those who live in the rural parts of the municipality.
Zulu made the announcement when he visited all wards that had raised housing issues during the integrated development plan review meeting with officials from human settlement and contractors recently.
The residents had previously criticised the municipality’s housing plan as they felt areas with slums and those close to the townships were neglected.
The mayor said people from ward five, 10 and 12 will be covered in the Mathonsi Sundumbil Infill phase two which will have 2 000 houses.
The project’s  implementing agent, Berry Thynesien said as from Tuesday, December 3 people could start registering for RDP houses.
The Manda Farm community in ward seven will soon be getting 1 000 houses and a school.
The mayor and his team then visited KwaSithebe where there are more informal dwellings and slums close to the industrial area.
The municipality plans to develop KwaSithebe through a semi-urban scheme and also have rental family units for people who are only in Mandeni for employment.
