The ANC Youth League in the Greater KwaDukuza region has threatened to physically remove pay parking marshals from Stanger until KwaDukuza municipality (KDM) reviews the system.
This comes after 50 pay parking marshals have been on strike for over a month after a salary dispute with their employer, Vusa Isipho Trading Enterprise.
Just two months after the rollout of the system, the company that operates as a KDM service provider offered their staff a new contract with a salary of R1000 a month and 35 percent commission.
A few marshals have returned to work but only operate in Stanger as the system has come to a stop in Ballito and Umhlali since January.
Due to the change in operating areas, Vusa Isiphpo Management cut employee salaries.

The ANCYL has since been meeting with striking staff and called for better salaries and working conditions.
“If needs are, the ANCYL will physically remove anyone who dares to collect fees from a motorist who are making a meaningful contribution to council’s fiscals.
“This shall not be permitted whilst Vusa Isipho is having the freedom to exploit our toiling brothers and sisters,” said League secretary Musa Zondi.
The league has also accused the system of being unjust and demanded that it be reconsidered.
“Probably we should concede that owing to the system being introduced prematurely a number of mistakes were going to occur hence its modality factor has to be reconsidered.
“Again, it is not justifiable that a sizeable section of KwaDukuza Municipality is exempted from paying, like Ballito and Salt Rock,” said Zondi.
