Less than a week after the Salt Rock licensing office was reopened for business, the system has collapsed once again.
The problem is reported to have started during the course of Monday when the electricity tripped.
Staff at the licensing office continued to experience problems on Tuesday and by midday the doors were firmly closed.
The KZN transport department – who are responsible for the system – has apparently told staff that they are working on the problem and that licensing systems around the country that operate on a 3G network are being affected.
This after the system had been down for almost two months.
DA Ward 22 councilor Malcolm Hubner said the technical problems were disappointing.
“It is extremely inconvenient that we have been experiencing system problems on a sporadic basis at the Salt Rock office.
“The fact that it is a national problem that can only be fixed by the transport department is not comforting either.”
He also argued that the transport department should sharpen up on its ability to communicate with the public as the public are taking out their frustrations on the local licensing staff who have no control over the problem.
The public are advised to make use of the Stanger Motor Licensing Administration Renewal Office for the mean time.
