DA retains Dolphin Coast stronghold

The DA has won two of the three wards that make up this small yet significant area.

While the counting continues across the country the DA has retained its majority hold of Ballito and Salt Rock on the Dolphin Coast.

The DA has won two of the three wards that make up this small yet significant area, with results still pending from the third ward.

Ward 22 (Salt Rock) has been won by the DA with 98.06%.

The DA also bagged Ward 6 (Ballito north) with 91.34%.

Results are still pending for Ward 21 (Ballito south, Driefontein and Doornkloof) with the DA bagging 90.26% of votes at the Townsend Park Scout Hall voting station, one of three voting stations in the ward.

Ward 22 DA councillor Malcolm Hubner said they are elated with results.

“I am especially proud of Ward 6 cllr Tammy Colley who was a new candidate and has done exceptionally well,” said Hubner.

Counting continues across KwaDukuza with 51% of the counting complete.

The ANC is leading the race for KwaDukuza with 50,11% of the votes, with the DA following with 38.65% and the IFP with 3.62%.

According to the Independent Electoral Commision (IEC) website nationally 42 % of the counting is now complete with the ANC in the lead with 51,44 % and the DA following with 31, 17%.
