Community meeting expected to restore peace in Isithebe

An eighth factory was torched this morning before things calmed down.

A meeting between ANC leaders and Isithebe protesters has been scheduled for Wednesday morning 11am at the Makhempini sports field.

ANC Ilembe district chairman, Ricardo Mthembu said he expected things to return to normal and be calm overnight in anticipation of the meeting.

This morning another factory and a truck were set alight while 120 protesters who was arrested for arson, malicious damage to property and public violence, were waiting to appear before a judge at the Inyoni Magistrate’s Court.

The outcome of the court appearance is still unknown but activity in Isithebe calmed down after midday.
