Ashton top 10 matrics produce excellent results

With the top 10 students identified, one has outshone her classmates by scoring an average of 85.7%, 6 distinctions and landing among the top 1% nationally in Business Studies at 95%!

Not a single Independent Examinations Board (IEB) matriculant will be left behind at Ashton International College Ballito, with all matriculants being able to study at tertiary level.

Ashton has revealed the top 10 matriculants and their results, with each of the top 10 scoring 4 or more distinctions.

The school’s Grade 12s aced an average of 2.1 distinction per pupil, with 4 of these landing in the top 1% nationally in a subject.

With the top 10 students identified, one has outshone her classmates by scoring an average of 85.7%, 6 distinctions and landing among the top 1% nationally in Business Studies at 95%!

Former head girl, Courtney Toweel scored distinctions in business studies, English, Afrikaans, life orientation, accounting and history and intends to study business sciences at the University of Cape Town (UCT).

Proving that the ladies stole the show, Toweel was followed in second by Sarah-Ann Hoggan and in third, Diya Ramnarain.

Sarah-Ann Hoggan was the second top matriculant at Ashton, scoring 8 distinctions.

Hoggan scored an average of 85.4% and 8 distinctions.

She will be heading off to UCT to study medicine.

Diya Ramnarain stole third place among the top matrics for the IEB class of 2021 with 7 distinctions.

Ramnarain, who scored 7 distinctions, also landed in the top 1% nationally in business studies.

She obtained an average of 85.3% across her subjects.

Claiming the top 4 position was Alex Bossert with 6 distinctions and an average of 84.9%.

In 4th was Alex Bossert with 6 distinctions and an average of 84.9%.

The fifth spot was clinched by Sudeisha Govender, who boasts a full house of 7 distinctions and an average of 84.6% across her subjects.

The remaining top spots, in their respective orders, were taken by Daniella Catarina (6 distinctions), Zara Zewraj (6 distinctions), Cole Russell (5 distinctions), Nicholas Tucker (4 distinctions) and in 10th, Amélie Zeelie (5 distinctions).

The top 10 pupils scored 60 distinctions.

“Ashton’s matric students produced a brilliant set of results in the challenging IEB final examinations, giving the college cause for huge celebrations with yet another 100% pass rate. The preparation years of 2020 and 2021 for the matriculants, was an emotional and challenging one throughout the Covid pandemic, where teaching often had to take place on online platforms. Significantly 94.7% of Ashton’s students achieved a Bachelor Degree pass, and 100% of all Ashton’s students will be able to study further at a tertiary institution,” said senior college head, Jenny van Buuren.

Over and above the 160 distinctions, 146 B symbols were recorded and 147 C symbols.
