Dentique is dentistry with a gentle touch

With her holistic approach, gentle smile and skillful way of making children comfortable, Dr Walmsley treats her patients the way she would expect to be treated.

Dr Danielle Walmsley is changing dentistry on the North Coast, one cavity at a time.

Since taking over the late Dr Van der Merwe’s practice – rebranded Dentique – Dr Walmsley has set about filling the large shoes left behind.

With her holistic approach, gentle smile and skillful way of making children comfortable, Dr Walmsley treats her patients the way she would expect to be treated.

With a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree behind her name, Dr Walmsley has been practicing for 10 years, 9 in private practice.

Her own story in dentistry began after a visit to the dentist as a child.

“There is so much negativity and scary stories about dentists that children can be really frightened to go, but I realised going to the dentist can be a happy experience. This has become the goal of my career, to make dentistry as pleasant and positive as possible for both children and adults.”

Dr Walmsley introduces children to the dentist’s chair slowly.

“I take it at their pace, and never rush anything. This really helps to win their trust.”

To make the dentist’s office even more attractive, the practice is receiving an exciting face-lift.

“It is all about feeling comfortable, which is what inspired the renovations. I want the whole experience to be positive, from the excellent service to how clients feel when they sit in the waiting room,” where you can enjoy a complimentary cappuccino or healthy smoothie – children enjoy a ‘baby-chino’.

Fear is often what prevents people from going to their dentist before a problem becomes a serious, and expensive one.

“Annual check-ups are important and greatly help in maintaining a killer smile.”

The practice is growing and Dr Walmsley has been joined by Ballito local, Dr Ursula Reynolds along with her assistant Tanya Jansen van Rensburg.

Dr Reynolds grew up in Polokwane, completing her studies at the University of Pretoria, where she decided she would always strive for excellence.

“Oral hygienist, Esna Small, has also stayed on with us,” says Dr Walmsley, adding that they were Covid-19 safety complaint.

Located at Rey’s Office Park in Ballito, Dentique staff look forward to welcoming both old clients of Dr Van der Merwe, as well as new faces eager to get their smile in top form.
