Enterprise iLembe raises the flag of excellence

According to Nkomzwayo, obtaining the international certification means Enterprise iLembe will develop specifications for their systems, services and procedures by which they can measure their level of excellence.

The economic development agency of the Ilembe District Municipality was recently awarded their ISO 9001 certification.

“As an organisation we want to inculcate good governance principles in all spheres of our business operations to ensure we engage in long-term business relationships with our partners that are mindful of our good standing.”

This was the message by Enterprise iLembe CEO Nathi Nkomzwayo at the ISO flag raising ceremony held at Enterprise iLembe last Wednesday.

Why is ISO certification important? According to Nkomzwayo, obtaining the international certification means Enterprise iLembe will develop specifications for their systems, services and procedures by which they can measure their level of excellence.

“As an agency we want to continue to grow and attract investment. Going forward we will build on global best practice principles to promote trade and grow investment opportunities in the region,” said Nkomzwayo.

Guest speaker and president of the Ilembe Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Andy Horton said the SME (Small to Medium Enterprise) sector was critical for job creation in emerging economies and encouraged Enterprise Ilembe to continue to empower people to ensure they are in a position to enter into main stream business.

Horton said one of the key requirements in unlocking greater employment opportunities in the region was to upskill people and said the chamber was committed in partnering with Enterprise Ilembe to support empowerment programmes to enable SMEs to adapt to the transformed business landscape.
