Intertoll staff demand higher wages

Courier journalist Allan Troskie is live at the protest at Mvoti toll plaza.

Staff members of Intertoll downed tools this morning and are voicing their anger on the N2 between the Marianhill and Mtunzini toll plazas.

Protesters based at the Mvoti toll have said that they want SANRAL to take over management, as they are currently receiving R2 900 per month.

They demand their wages be increased to R6 000 per month.

The strike action has effected peak-hour traffic, with cars backed up in both the north and southbound lanes, as the tolls are short staffed.

Update to follow.
