Eskom said there was no need for load shedding on Thursday morning, but warned that it was operating a very constrained system.

“Over the past 39 days, we have had only two hours and 20 minutes of load shedding. And, since it was stage 1 load shedding, this meant that 96 percent of South Africans still got uninterrupted electricity supply,” Eskom said.

“The power system is stable and no load shedding is currently taking place. However, the risk remains as we operate a very constrained system that becomes more vulnerable when we experience unplanned events like breakages or sudden increases in demand.”

Eskom warned that as the weather warmed up, electricity usage would become higher because people would use air-conditioners, geysers and pool pumps.

The Citizen has compiled a list of load shedding schedules from across different municipalities. Due to the fragmented nature of the information available, not all schedules may be accurate or up to date. If your schedule does not appear here or is not up to date, let us know.

Should you be powered directly by Eskom visit the Eskom load shedding site to find out when you’ll be out. Type in your suburb/area in the search box to easily locate your area, i.e. Pimville or the Midvaal municipality.

Eskom has also collated a list for municipal customers which can be accessed here.
