Eskom announced that there were no power cuts on Wednesday morning, as the electricity system was stable.

“The power system is currently stable, enabling Eskom to perform maintenance without load shedding,” the power utility said. However, Eskom said due to increased electricity demand in the evening and power stations’ units being on maintenance, the power system was expected to be constrained during the evening peak period (5pm– 9pm).

The utility urged electricity users to consider energy efficient ways of keeping warm, as the country was experiencing cold weather conditions.

“In winter the electricity demand peaks in the morning and evening as more electricity is used during these times. We appeal to all our customers to continue to reduce their electricity usage throughout the day but to be aware of the need to save more during the peak periods from 06:00 to 10:00 and 17:00 to 21:00.”

The Citizen has compiled a list of load shedding schedules from across different municipalities. Due to the fragmented nature of the information available, not all schedules may be accurate or up to date. If your schedule does not appear here or is not up to date, let us know.

Should you be powered directly by Eskom visit the Eskom load shedding site to find out when you’ll be out. Type in your suburb/area in the search box to easily locate your area, i.e. Pimville or the Midvaal municipality.

Eskom has also collated a list for municipal customers which can be accessed here.
