The power system was stable on Wednesday morning, with a low risk of load shedding, Eskom said.

“This will enable Eskom to carry out its planned maintenance. Eskom has not implemented load shedding over the past 17 successive days,” Eskom said.

“Eskom’s aim is to meet the country’s electricity needs and maintain its power generating units with minimal or no load shedding. However, should we experience additional generating unit failure the possibility of load shedding may intensify in which case Eskom will notify customers accordingly.”

The power utility said customers should continue to reduce their electricity usage throughout the day and should especially be aware to save more during the morning and evening peak periods, from 6am to 10am and from 5pm to 9pm.
