The power system was stable on Friday morning, so there was no load shedding, Eskom said.

The power utility said there had been no load shedding for the past two weeks. “Eskom’s aim is to meet the country’s electricity needs and maintain its power generating units with minimal or no load shedding,” Eskom said.

“The likelihood of load shedding remains a possibility should we experience an additional generating unit failure. Eskom will inform customers should the possibility of load shedding intensify.”

The power utility warned that consumers should continue reducing their electricity usage throughout the day and be aware of the need to save more during the peak periods, from 6am to 10am and from 5pm to 9pm.
