Eskom said the power system was stable on Monday morning and would enable the power utility to perform maintenance without load shedding.

Eskom warned that the risk of load shedding remained for the evening peak period, between 5pm and 9pm. “However, Eskom will inform customers should the possibility of load shedding intensify,” Eskom said.

“Eskom has been able to perform maintenance without load shedding for the past week.” Eskom said it was in line with its position to only resort to “rotational load shedding” in order to protect the power system and to create space for critical maintenance.

“Eskom’s aim is to meet the country’s electricity needs and maintain its power generating units with minimal or no load shedding.”
