The power system is currently stable, enabling Eskom to perform maintenance without load shedding, the electricity parastatal said on Sunday morning.

However, a risk remained during the evening peak period of 5pm to 9pm when the demand for electricity would increase, Eskom said in a statement.

Eskom would inform customers should the possibility of load shedding intensify.

The company had been able to perform maintenance without load shedding for the past week; in line with its position to only resort to rotational load shedding to protect the power system and create space for critical maintenance, it said.
