Man shot dead in apparent hit at restaurant in Rosebank Mall

A man has been shot dead at a restaurant in Rosebank in what seems to be a hit.

Two men allegedly entered the Tashas restaurant at Rosebank Mall and fired multiple shots at a businessman before fleeing on foot through the Rosebank Firs, according to journalist Govan Whittles.

Paul Herbst from Medi Response said a 42-year-old man was shot twice while seated at a table.

“Upon arrival of paramedics, it was established that a single male had sustained gunshot wounds. The victim showed no sign of life and was declared deceased by paramedics,” said Herbst.

He said the man was killed after being approached by two men.

Although it appears to be a hit, the motive of the shooting is unconfirmed at this stage.

Security company Vision Tactical confirmed that one person died in the shooting. It added that emergency services and police were on the scene.

Parts of Rosebank have been closed off after the shooting incident.

Khayelitsha shooting

This incident comes after four men were shot and killed on Tuesday evening in Khayelitsha, in yet another mass shooting incident in the Cape Town township.

According to police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa, reports from the scene indicated that unknown gunmen entered the Madiba supermarket in Site B and fired several shots at 7pm.

Three men died on the scene while the fourth one succumbed to his wounds in hospital.

Potelwa said the motive for the shooting was unknown at this stage and organised crime detectives were investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting incident.
