Graaff-Reinet police have arrested a woman and a man in connection with last month’s murder of 59-year-old Anette Jooste, Eastern Cape police said in a statement on Monday.
Police spokesperson Captain Bradley Rawlinson said the suspects were arrested in Vereeniging on Sunday and were expected to appear in the Graaff-Reinet Magistrate’s Court later on Monday on a charge of murder.
The male suspect is 26 and the woman 48.
According to the police, her lifeless body was discovered just outside Graaff-Reinet, lying about three kilometres next to the N9 road in the direction of Middleburg.
Police said at the time that she had sustained an open wound to her head and her last known address was in Vereeniging in Gauteng.
