Man shot dead in Pietermaritzburg

The circumstances leading up to the shooting are being investigated by police.

A man, believed to be about 30 years old, was shot dead in Pietermaritzburg on Friday night, paramedics said.

Netcare 911 responded just before 10pm to reports of a shooting on Reggie Hadebe Road, France Location, Msunduzi, Netcare 911 spokesman Shawn Herbst said.

“Reports from the scene indicate that an adult male, believed to be approximately 30 years old, sustained a gunshot wound to his arm and chest. The patient was assessed on [the] scene by an advanced life support paramedic and found to have no signs of life and [was] declared deceased on the scene.”

The circumstances leading up to the shooting would be investigated by police who were on the scene, Herbst said.
