Barely two weeks after the most recent fuel hike comes rumours of another increase, predicted by the Automobile Association of South Africa.
The fuel price currently sits at over R17 a litre with no end in sight as the AA predicts that petrol will increase by 40c a litre in addition to increases of 70c and 65c per litre for diesel and illuminating paraffin respectively.
Public sentiment about the increases have resulted in numerous threats to strike and an actual strike happened in Kwa-Zulu Natal.
To combat the knock-on effect of the increases, government recently set up a task team to investigate the viability of a fixed fuel price.
The task team will present its findings to parliament on 18 October.
