After being seen on the e-commerce site OLX, it seems President Jacob Zuma’s controversial Nkandla was up for sale. The ad mysteriously appeared last week Thursday with the description: “A 3.83ha luxury compound with world-class security & entertainment infrastructure for sale in the pristine & historical sprawling hills of Nkandla municipality ‘Enqabeni Enkulu KwaZulu’.”
It has since been removed.
The advertisement further read: “Equipped with almost any amenity an international stately family would require, complete with security operational quarters, helipad & underground bunker with seamless “panic-mode” transit rail – this kingdom of exclusivity is a secure dream in the heartland of balmy Kwa-Zulu Natal.”
Some of the key features the advert offered were a “Kraal / Livestock enclosure with culvert – 37.8m diameter”, “Small fowl enclusure [sic] – perfect for ducks, quails, hens”, an amphitheatre and a “tear-drop pool for leisure & emergency use”.
“Kindly provide your full name, occupation, SA ID number, Passport No in your reply. As well stating willingness to declare source of funding,” the ad continued.
The username of the OLX profile that posted the advert reads ‘Ntoeng Sekhoto’, also the name of the presidency’s private secretary.
