Fourteen people, including a toddler, died in an accident involving a truck and a double cab bakkie on the R101 road between Mokopane and Naboomspruit in Limpopo on Wednesday.

Police spokesperson Colonel Ronel Otto said the head on collision happened in the early hours.

“The driver of the truck sustained minor injuries. Two people from the bakkie survived and were taken to hospital, the identities of the deceased are not yet known,” said Otto.

The driver of the bakkie also survived the accident.
