Black Coffee was caught allegedly driving at 200km/h on Christmas eve.

Well-known DJ Black Coffee will be back in court next month on a charge of speeding. Nkosinathi Maphumulo appeared briefly in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court yesterday following his arrest on Christmas eve when he was allegedly driving at a speed of 200km/h.

The case was postponed to February 23. The DJ was caught allegedly driving well over the speed limit on the N1 near the New Canada bridge in Johannesburg. It was reported he was in a Maserati.

Johannesburg Metro Police Department spokesperson Wayne Minnaar said earlier that 12 motorists were nabbed for speeding on New Year’s Day, ANA reported.

At least 46 people arrested for drink-driving and speeding were expected to appear in various courts across Johannesburg this week.

Minnaar said one of the fastest speedsters was the driver of a BMW M4 who was driving at 249km per hour on the N1 highway in Midrand on New Year’s Day.

Meanwhile, Black Coffee has been named as one of the headliners to perform at US music festival Coachella from April 15 to 24 in California in the US.
