Police in Randfontein, on Gauteng’s West Rand, are investigating a case of murder after finding a “neatly dressed” man’s body recently.

According to police spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst, “police were alerted that a body of a man was found in the veld on the old Azaadville Road”.

The man, believed to be in his 40s, was found with an old gold-coloured pocket knife on his person. He was also wearing isiphandla – a cow hide bracelet – on his left wrist, Randfontein Herald reported.

“It is believed he might have died between [Thursday and Friday],” Ernst said.

This comes after the body of a woman was found ‎in Durban’s beachfront area.

KwaZulu-Natal provincial police spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane said the woman’s body was found between Battery Beach and the popular Sun Coast Casino Beach on Saturday.

A British passport was found with the body, but he could not confirm whether the passport belonged to the dead woman.

There were no visible injuries and police would have to await the results of a post-mortem to determine the cause of her death.
