A Metrorail passenger train derailed between Ga-Rankuwa and Pretoria on Wednesday morning, Metrorail said.

The passenger train derailed around 4.30am but no one was injured, spokesman Tony Games said.

“Our team is investigating the cause of the derailment. We are working on clearing the site. It should be clear by this afternoon.”

Other trains could not use the tracks until the site was cleared. As a temporary measure, a bus shuttle service would be used to transport Metrorail passengers between stations in the affected area.
