An uncle and his nephew were shot dead in their home near Mthatha, Eastern Cape police said on Wednesday.

Police spokesman Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela said the 61-year-old man and his 31-year-old nephew were confronted by four men in their home on Tuesday afternoon.

“It is reported that the four unknown men arrived at the deceased’s home looking for the 31-year-old. They shot and killed the two men,” said Fatyela.

He said the motive for the killings was not known.

Police found several 9mm pistol cartridges, and a case of murder was opened.

No arrest had yet been made.
