A young man has been seriously injured after he got trapped under a crane that had toppled over in Fourways, north of Johannesburg.

Johannesburg Emergency management services’ media liaison officer, Nana Radebe said that the man was working on the crane when it slipped, toppled over and fell on him.

Emer-G-med services as well as the Sandton fire department arrived on the scene at King Fisher Drive, near Monte Casino and immediately started to stabilise the 24-year-old man at around 9am.

“He sustained leg and chest injuries and is in a critical but stable condition,” said Radebe.

The patient was transported to the Sunninghill hospital for further treatment.
