An elderly couple has allegedly been robbed and burned with a hot iron by men aided by the couple’s domestic worker in Florida, on West Rand.
The couple were burned while they were being robbed yesterday, Roodepoort Record reported.
Police are searching for the alleged domestic worker who aided two robbers in gaining entry into the home of a family she was working for.
According to an anonymous source, the men were wearing blue overalls and robbed the elderly couple of their jewellery, firearm and cellphones.
The domestic worker, only known as Priscilla, allegedly burned the man with a hot iron to prevent the couple from retaliating.
Florida police spokesperson Captain Lydia Dikolomela said she could no confirm whether or not the domestic worker was involved in the robbery as circumstances surrounding the incident are still sketchy.
She added the suspects tied the victims, assaulted them and demanded safe keys. The victims were burnt with iron.
A case of house robbery was opened. No arrests have been made yet.
In a separate incident, a domestic worker allegedly stole her employer’s clothes, including her wedding dress, in Sandton, Johannesburg.
It is alleged the employer accidentally came across her former employee’s profile after it appeared on Facebook as a friend suggestion in August. It became apparent to her the clothes the woman was wearing were taken during the time the former employee worked for her.
