A 19-year-old pupil from a Midrand school was arrested in Ivory Park in May after he allegedly stabbed and killed another pupil, 18, with a pair of scissors.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela said: “Police received a complaint from the school principal, and on arrival they found the paramedics already at the scene, who declared the victim dead.”
It is alleged the two had an argument, and the suspect took out a pair of scissors, which he was using to cut out pictures and stabbed the victim once in the middle of his body. Both pupils were in Grade 12.
Gauteng department of education spokesperson Phumla Sekhonyane said the department was aware of the incident. “The department was alerted of the incident by the principal this morning and has met with the school, victim and suspect’s families over this tragic incident,” she said.
