Witness had sexual relationship with De Villiers

A 20-year-old woman who has accused a Johannesburg model agency boss of raping her, admitted in court on Wednesday that she in fact had had a sexual relationship with the man before he allegedly raped her.

Model agency boss Dawie de Villiers faces charges of sexual assault, rape, child pornography, sexual grooming, as well as fraud and intimidation.

“I had sex with him twice,” the woman told the High Court sitting in Palm Ridge. De Villiers’s lawyer Jaques Pienaar had earlier asked the woman to read a statement where she stated that the rape had happened at De Villiers’s house.

The woman – who was almost 15 at the time of the alleged incident – then admitted that she had in fact had sex with De Villiers prior, and that she was in fact not a virgin when De Villiers allegedly raped her. Earlier, when Pienaar had asked her whether she was a virgin before the alleged attack, she had replied: “Yes I was.” Pienaar then asked the woman why she told the court she was a virgin when in fact she wasn’t. “I was scared,” she replied.

The woman had earlier told the court that she felt De Villiers raped her because she didn’t have money to pay the modelling agency. “My mother didn’t have money for my modelling and Dawie said he would sponsor me so maybe this was pay back,” she told the court when asked whether she had an idea why De Villiers would rape her.

Pienaar also asked her why she didn’t scream for help while she was getting raped. “I didn’t think anyone would hear me,” she replied. The case was adjourned until today.
