Eight-year-old stabs toddler – police

A three-year-old Cape Town boy died after an eight-year-old stabbed him with a piece of wire, Western Cape police said today.

“Three-year-old Liyabona Mgxebo was stabbed with a piece of wire in his head by an eight-year-old while playing with a friend; he succumbed the next day in hospital,” spokesman Lt-Col Andrè Traut said.

This happened on Monday in Mfuleni, outside Cape Town.

The eight-year-old was in the care of his guardians while the investigation continued, Traut said.
