Man and matric pupil arrested with drugs worth R500 000

Western Cape police have arrested a 30 year old man and 18 year old female matric pupil who were found to be in possession of R500 000 drugs and R20 000 cash.

The arrests formed part of a crime prevention patrol in Bonteheuwel, Cape Town said SA Police Service spokesperson Captain Frederick Van Wyk.

During a routine patrol police pulled over and stopped a white Hyundai Sonata with two passengers. Upon searching the two and their vehicle, the illicit contents were found.

“Members then found three plastic bags containing heroin in the glove box between the seats to an estimated street value of R500,000 and also found R20,443.10 in cash in the vehicle,” Van Wyk said.

Both suspects, who were from Belgravia in Athlone were arrested. The woman is a matric pupil at an Athlone school.

A case of dealing in drugs was opened for investigation.
