There remains only a a low risk of load shedding throughout Sunday, Eskom said on Sunday morning.

“The power system is stable and no load shedding is currently taking place, the parastatal said in a statement.

Only two hours and 20 minutes of load shedding had been implemented in the past 42 days, and, because it was stage one load shedding, 96 percent of South Africans still received uninterrupted electricity supply on that day.

“We did warn earlier in the week that the power system would be especially tight until today, Sunday 20 September 2015. We continue to urge customers to use energy efficiently at all times, especially air conditioners, geysers, and pool pumps, as they do use a lot of electricity,” Eskom said.
