ER24 Johannesburg East spokesperson Glen Orritt said the victim sustained head injuries and was in a critical condition. He was placed on a manual ventilator and was flown by helicopter to the Milpark Hospital, Benoni City Times reported.
A former paramedic and father of a pupil at the school, Robert Niterl, was in the school’s office when the incident happened.
He arrived on scene and was told that the victim had fallen on his head.
The school said they would comment when they have more details about the incident.
In June., five men were injured when scaffolding collapsed at a construction site in Pretoria.
ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said this happened in the early hours of the morning on Steve Biko Street. She said the scaffolding was between 10 to 15 metres high.
“When ER24 paramedics and other services arrived on scene, they found the patients scattered on the ground.” Three people were seriously injured, and two others had moderate injuries. They were all treated on the scene before being taken to a hospital. “The exact cause of the incident was unknown,” said Bodasing.
