According to police community members were complaining that only people from Polokwane are in the school while the youth around the school are suffering. The incident allegedly started when police rescued a suspect who was accused by the community of assault with the intent to do grievous harm.
“…the community were busy assulting him,” said police spokesperson Colonel Ronel Otto. After police intervened the community allegedly became angry and started blocking roads with bricks and a big Cell C container.
“A truck belonging to a private company was also set alight,” Otto said.
Public order police were deployed to to the area. No one was injured and no arrests have been made.
Otto said the situation was calm on Thursday morning.
