Gauteng ANC mourns Masiko death

ANC Gauteng membership officer Alice Mamodise Masiko was a great leader of the movement who made many sacrifices for social justice, the party in the province said on Thursday.

Masiko died on Monday at the Chris Hani Baragwanath hospital after a short illness.

“Through her astute wisdom and good political advice, the ANC has always found solace in her ideas and found solutions to the difficult questions confronting our struggle today,” the ANC in Gauteng said.

“Mama Alice worked tirelessly for progress in the ANC and South Africa. She has never been discouraged by her gender status in place of patriarchy and racial oppression.”

The African National Congress said it would miss Masiko’s strength, discipline, bravery and selflessness.

She was born on November, 30, 1943 in Johannesburg.

Masiko is survived by her three sisters, son, two daughters, two granddaughters, family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on October 29.
