Soccer fans wanting to attend the Soweto derby at the FNB Stadium on Saturday are advised to use public transport, Johannesburg metro police said on Thursday.

“Parking will be limited and parking tickets will not be sold at the stadium,” said Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar.

Metro Rail would operate from Vereeniging, Springs, Lerala, and Mabopane.

Gautrain shuttles, Rea Vaya buses, and Top Six taxis from Soweto would be transporting fans to and from the stadium.

The derby will be between Soweto teams Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.

“Security for the match has been beefed-up and no car guards will be allowed to park cars,” he said.

Fans were encouraged to arrive early at the stadium. Gates would open at midday, he said.
