A case of hijacking has been opened after a brand new vehicle was hijacked while being taken for a test drive by a potential buyer in Bardene, Boksburg, on the East Rand.

Boksburg North police spokesperson Lieutenant Juanita Coetzer said the victim was testing the white Volkswagen Golf 7 R from Lindsay Saker Dealership yesterday when another vehicle overtook him and stopped in front of the car, Boksburg Advertiser reported.

“Two men jumped out and opened the driver’s door. They forced the victim out of the vehicle and sped off in the Golf,” added Coetzer.

The victim did not sustain any injuries. Police investigations are ongoing.

In a separate incident, a video clip surfaced showing the hijacking of a car in the Fordsburg area of Johannesburg in June.

The incident, which was captured on the vehicle’s dashboard camera, allegedly took place on Main Reef Road, near the M2 on-ramp.

In the video, four armed men driving a white VW Jetta with the registration DL65CLGP are seen emerging from the car and approaching the unidentified hijacked vehicle.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Mduduzi Zondo urged anyone who could identify the alleged hijackers to contact police.
