The council would focus on providing quality human resources for health care, her spokesman Khutso Rabothata said.
“The council’s core function is to promote dentistry in the republic and to control matters relating to the education and training of dental technicians or dental technologists.”
The SADTC members would be responsible for determining the strategic direction of the council and to ensure full implementation of the Dental Technicians Act.
Rabothata said council members should make it their priority to appoint the registrar to help them in executing the council’s mandate successfully.
The deputy minister urged the council members to ensure that the council upheld health profession standards and norms, said Rabothata.
She said the new regulatory dispensation would assist the country to protect and nurture the field of dentistry.
