Pygmy whales beached in Mossel Bay

A mother and baby pygmy sperm whales were beached just off Second Beach Dana Bay on Friday morning.

The pair were found by local fishermen at approximately 8.30am who tried to get them back into the swell.

The NSRI, emergency services and conservations teams from Pinnacle Conservation as well as Oceans Research were on the scene shortly afterwards to continue the rescue operation.
