South Africa ‘to gain from China’

As China and South Africa’s economic ties strengthen, Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa has emphasised that government stands to gain insight from the Asian country.

Speaking in parliament yesterday [Wednesday] Ramaphosa said South Africa could learn from China in terms of how it managed its State-Owned Enterprises [SOEs].

“Do not scoff at what we can learn from China… their accountability process is very high, that’s one thing we can learn. Not all of our SOEs are in a difficult situation and those that are we are going to sort them out,” he said of the 700 plus parastatals.

Among them are the beleaguered SABC, the South African Post Office and SA Airways.
