The deceased, Klara Göttert, had gone missing earlier in the day, Randburg Sun reported.

“At the moment we are waiting for the police to complete their investigations. We can confirm that a body was found,” Northgate Shopping Centre marketing manager Natalie Berkhout said.

Douglasdale police spokesperson Warrant Officer Balan Muthan confirmed Klara died from her injuries.

Her body was then taken to the Roodepoort State Mortuary for a postmortem to determine the exact cause of her death.

Last year the SA Depression and Anxiety Group (Sadag) said about 16.8% of teens have planned to commit suicide.

The research found that 23.6% of teens in the country were struggling with feelings of hopelessness and sadness.

According to Sadag teens are likely to be more impulsive when dealing with suicidal thoughts or behaviours and that research showed that more young women committed suicide than young males.
